Integrated water management for active mining environments.

Cape Dunstans delivers mine water and environmental solutions that support safe, efficient and compliant mining operations.

We combine drilling, civil construction and water infrastructure expertise to help clients control water risk, protect operational continuity and manage environmental outcomes across the mine lifecycle.

  • What we deliver
  • Mine dewatering systems
  • Groundwater control infrastructure
  • Dewatering pipelines and pump systems
  • Bore construction and underground control
  • Long-term water management programs
  • Environmental infrastructure and rehabilitation-related works
  • Horizontal dewatering wells

Built for mining conditions

Mine water projects operate within complex and high-risk environments, where groundwater behaviour, environmental constraints and production schedules must be carefully managed.

Cape Dunstans supports open pit and underground operations, pit development, mine expansion and long-term dewatering programs across remote and active mining environments.

Environmental Services

Cape Dunstans supports mining clients with environmental works linked to water management, rehabilitation and long-term site performance.

This includes water management infrastructure, containment and rehabilitation-related works, pipeline and civil construction under environmental constraints, and support for compliance, monitoring and mine closure requirements.

Horizontal Dewatering Wells
A smarter groundwater solution.

Cape Dunstans designs and constructs horizontal dewatering wells that target water-bearing zones beneath the planned pit floor, helping reduce in-pit infrastructure, improve safety and support production continuity.

Our difference
Integrated delivery. Clear accountability.

Cape Dunstans brings drilling, pipeline, civil construction and water infrastructure capability together within one team.

This reduces interface risk, improves coordination and provides clearer accountability across the groundwater system.

Proven delivery

Cape Dunstans has delivered mine water and groundwater control systems for major resource clients, including Fortescue and Rio Tinto.

Let’s talk

We build mine water systems that protect production, manage environmental risk and support long-term mine performance.

Innovative mine dewatering. Delivered from outside the pit.

Cape Dunstans delivers horizontal dewatering wells for mining operations where groundwater control, safety and production continuity are critical.

Unlike conventional vertical wells, horizontal dewatering wells are drilled from outside the mine pit and designed to intersect target water-bearing zones beneath the planned pit floor. This helps reduce in-pit infrastructure, minimise disruption to active mining operations and improve safety.

Why it matters
Horizontal dewatering wells can help mining clients:

improve groundwater control
reduce reliance on in-pit vertical wells
support safer mine operations
reduce operational conflicts as the pit advances
improve efficiency and long-term mine planning
reduce environmental disturbance

Specialist capability

Cape Dunstans has developed a specialist horizontal dewatering well solution for the Australian mining industry, combining HDD capability, well design, drilling technology and mine water management expertise.

Proven delivery

Cape Dunstans has delivered horizontal dewatering well solutions for major mining clients, including Fortescue and Rio Tinto.
At Fortescue’s Solomon Mine, the team delivered a horizontal dewatering well fitted with an electric submersible pump and variable speed drive, supporting high-yield groundwater control.

Remote fibre. Delivered with certainty.

Cape Dunstans delivers fibre optic infrastructure across regional and remote environments where distance, access and logistics create delivery risk.

We provide end-to-end installation of communications and signalling networks for telecommunications providers, resource operators and government agencies, connecting critical infrastructure to reliable, high-capacity networks.

By combining telecommunications installation capability with proven remote construction delivery, we provide dependable outcomes regardless of location or conditions.

What we deliver

– Long-distance regional fibre corridors
– Rail signalling and communications networks
– Mining and resource infrastructure connections
– Energy and industrial facility connections
– Telecommunications backbone networks
– Regional and remote transport corridor installations

Capability

Infrastructure we deliver:
– Long-distance fibre installation and network build
– Rail signalling and communications systems
– End-to-end installation, testing and commissioning

Environments we operate in:
-Remote and regional WA, including the Pilbara
– Rail corridors and transport infrastructure
– Industrial and resource operations
– Environmentally sensitive and constrained areas
– Large-scale, multi-crew installation programs

Construction methods
We deploy installation methods suited to terrain, access and environmental sensitivity:
