KCU is a 50/50 joint venture between Cape Dunstans and Kurtarra Pty Ltd, delivering infrastructure and operational solutions across remote Western Australia.

Combining self-perform construction capability with strong Indigenous engagement and community partnerships, KCU supports projects throughout the Kimberley and Pilbara with a focus on safety, reliability and long-term regional outcomes.

KCU has delivered more than $100 million in projects across mining, infrastructure and remote operations, supporting clients including FMG, Rio Tinto, BHP and SKAO.

KCU combines Cape Dunstans’ operational capability with Kurtarra’s Indigenous workforce and community engagement expertise to deliver projects safely and efficiently in remote environments.

KCU operates under a certified Integrated Management System, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AS/NZS 4801 standards.

Indigenous participation

Through the KCU Indigenous Engagement Program, the partnership supports employment, training and procurement opportunities for Aboriginal people and Traditional Owner businesses, including Broome-based training and safety programs, dedicated workforce development initiatives and ongoing community engagement. KCU currently maintains approximately 12% Aboriginal workforce participation.

Track record

KCU and Cape Dunstans have delivered major infrastructure projects across remote Western Australia, including work for Fortescue Metals Group (FMG), Rio Tinto, BHP and SKAO (Murchison region).
